Moultrie's new Edge 2 Pro is an upgrade from last year's Edge Pro, and unlike some "upgrades" that are mostly cosmetic, this one boasts some significant improvements compared to its predecessor. This year's model maintains what we liked about last year's, in that It’s easy to set up with little to no issues once in the field. But it also has a faster trigger speed, higher resolution, and on-demand photo/video.
I tested the Edge 2 Pro over a several weeks, along with other new cellular trail cameras on the market. It was right there with the best in the pack, and I’d even give it a few extra points for how easy it is to use and its smart body design. Here's my full review.

The body design on the Edge 2 Pro is like a lot of Moultrie Mobile cameras before it, with a folding antenna for easy transport. Under the hinged cover, you’ll only see an on-off switch and one button to connect the camera to your phone via Bluetooth. But even though it doesn’t have an onboard screen, you can adjust settings via the Moultrie Mobile app and use the live aiming feature for angling the camera once it’s paired with your smartphone.
The camera can fit up to 16 AA batteries, but it can run on just eight if need be. It’s also compatible with Moultrie Mobile rechargeable lithium battery packs. It comes with a an Easy-Aim Mount, which clips to the camera body. The mount is just a curved piece of plastic with teeth for biting into tree bark, but it really comes in handy to get the perfect angle.
The Edge 2 Pro automatically connects to one of four cellular LTE networks nationwide. It also has an automatic GPS function to pin the camera on a mapping app, and it allows you to select zones within its field of view to only trigger when game crosses areas that you want. The camera will also let you request on-demand photos and video with sound.
The Edge 2 Pro uses Moultrie Mobile A.I. to detect game, avoid false triggers, and help you sort and catalog images. With this feature, you can select species for the camera to avoid shooting, keeping your camera in the field longer and not clogging up your camera roll with shots you don’t want.

How I Tested The Edge 2 Pro
I tested a bunch of new cellular trail cameras side-by-side this year, and the Edge 2 Pro was one of them. I first set the camera up and evaluated the functionality of the Moultrie Mobile app. Then, I scored it on body design and construction, and noted how easy it was to set up and run in the field.
After that, I conducted a walk-by test by staking out different distances out to around 100 feet in my yard. I walked, jogged, and ran in front of the Edge 2 Pro at day and night to get an idea of performance. I also set the camera over a deer feeder and placed it in areas where I thought game would pass to test the camera in the field.

Stacked up against other cameras, the Edge 2 Pro performed very well. For our broader Best Cellular Trail Cams of 2024 Test, the Edge 2 Pro took the title of Best Camera for Beginners because it was so easy to set up. What I really like about the Edge 2 Pro, and other Moultrie Mobile cameras, is the simple interface and well-thought-out app. All you need to do is turn the camera on, scan a QR code, and it pretty much does the rest.
In the field, I was able to use the live-aiming function to aim the camera, and the Easy-Aim Mount was very helpful for getting the exact angle I wanted. This is a nice touch that I haven’t seen many other companies including with a camera.
The Body style of the Edge 2 Pro lends itself well to packing into the field. With the antenna folded, it rides well in a backpack or ATV, and its rugged case design can take a beating. The only issue I found with the design was the inability to change out the antenna should it break. But I don’t see this as being a big problem.
The fast .03-second trigger speed shined during my walk-by test, capturing images of me both day and night without an issue. It also captured images both day and night out to its advertised range. In the field, the camera’s images are comparable to most other cameras in its price range, and I experienced very few false triggers.
Final Thoughts
The Edge 2 Pro is a great choice if you’re just getting into cellular trail cams. But don’t take that to mean that this is an entry-level unit. It will give you good-quality images and has loads of onboard features that are really useful to the hunter, all in a simple package.
What really sets this camera apart, though, is the Easy-Aim Mount. It sounds like a simple thing (and I’m surprised more companies haven’t designed something similar), but it solves one of the most annoying things about setting a trail cam. It also lets you angle the camera severely, giving you the ability to hang it high in trees. This comes in handy on public land, where you might want to use climbing sticks to hang the camera out of reach from getting stolen.
Bottom line, the Edge 2 Pro is a set-it-and-forget-it type of trail camera that you don’t need to mess with to get good images and video. Combine that with a well-designed app and body style, and it’s a camera you’d be sure to enjoy using season after season.
