The days of the simple fixed 4X or variable 3-9X riflescope are behind us. Most modern riflescopes are much more than just a sight. Many have become complex optical instruments that, in addition to providing an aiming point, provide shooting solutions through multifaceted reticles or electronics. Shooters and hunters want riflescopes to help them accurately engage targets up close, at a distance, and even in total darkness.
Nighttime feral hog and predator hunting have pushed manufacturers to make thermal riflescopes better and more affordable. Unless you're looking for an optical sight like your father used, this year's lineup of new scopes will provide you with plenty of options. Here are the hottest new riflescopes of 2025.
Armasight Commander 640
The Commander 640 thermal sight is for medium to short-range lowlight applications that require a powerful cartridge. It’s powered by Armasight’s Iron Wolf technology and has the ArmaCORE 640x480 thermal sensor to provide sharp and high contrast imagery with a 1300-meter detection range. The sight is also waterproof and rated for 50 BMG recoil. Some of its key features include the ability to capture videos and images and provide USB streaming with a USB-C interface at a 60 Hz refresh rate. It offers multiple color palettes and has a simple three-button control. Two CR123A batteries power this thermal sight. It is 9.5 inches long and weighs 1.39 pounds. It also has an optical 1.5X magnification and a digital 1X to 4X zoom. MSRP is $4299.
Burris Fullfield
To celebrate the Fullfield’s riflescope’s 50th anniversary, Burris has updated the Fullfield line. This includes an improved 4X zoom system, high-performance glass, multi-coated lenses, rugged one-piece aluminum design with dual spring turrets, simple plex or advanced MOA and BDC—illuminated and non-illuminated—reticle options, and compatibility with Burris Knob Synergy which allows for easy upgrades to more advanced elevation systems including custom ballistic knobs. Burris is offering six new models that are reasonably light. They include a 13.5 ounce 2-8X35mm, a 15.4 ounce 2.5-10X42, a 15.3 ounce 3-12X42, a 19.2 ounce 3-12X56, a 17.7 ounce 4-16X50, and an 18.9 ounce 6-24X50. Prices range from $192 to $600.
Burris XTR PS
Burris has also added a Precision Shooter Model (PS) to their XTR riflescope series. It’s specifically for competitive long-range shooting and combines the micro-adjustable PĒK technology and onboard HUD (Heads Up Display) data center. This tech removes the need for DOPE cards or coming off the scope to adjust turrets. This is a first focal plane scope built on a one-piece 34mm main tube. The PĒK system relies on a click-less elevation turret and a digital position sensor for ultra-precise elevation adjustments, allowing you to dial within 1/30 MIL. The XTR PS HUD offers eight data zones, displaying essential firing solution information. The riflescope can also store ballistic data for multiple density altitude, and it works with the BurrisConnect App. Burris is offering a 3-18X50 and a 5-30X56 version with prices starting at $2400.00.
EOTECH Vudu SFP
An interesting new riflescope from EOTECH is the Vudu 3-9X32 SFP. This is a second focal plane scope built on a lightweight aluminum tube and it’s only 6.8 inches long and weighs just 16 ounces. The capped turrets offer ¼ MOA adjustments to the HC-1 reticle and a rotary dial provides 10 brightness settings. Power to the illuminated reticle comes from a single CR2032 battery that should provide about 300 hours of illumination. This scope has a unique base that’s compatible with any aftermarket mini-ACOG mount or rail, and it has a 2.5- to 3.1-inch eye relief. A version with a EFLX mini red dot sight that you can mount on top of the optic or at a 45° angle is also available for an additional $330. Though not optimally configured for a traditional rifle, it should be ideal on any AR style rifle and could be a coyote caller’s dream. Base price: $1099.00.
GPO Centuri
The new Centuri 4-16X44i FFP riflescope is extremely compact and lightweight given its magnification range. It is 9.9 inches long and weighs only 20 ounces. This is a front focal plane, milliradian riflescope with an illuminated reticle that features Double HD high-transmission glass. It has lockable, 1/10th MIL adjustable turrets that are zero-resettable. They also offer 80 inches of elevation and 100 inches of windage adjustment. A parallax adjustment is standard, and there is a rheostat illumination control. The Centuri 4-15X44i also comes with a quick detachable magnification throw lever and the eye relief is set at 3.75 inches. You would probably expect a scope this compact and feature heavy to cost a fortune. It doesn’t. Suggested retail is only $619.00.
Kahles Game-Changer – 40X
Building on the success of their K328i tactical riflescope launched in 2024, Kahles has upped the ante with the K540i Game-Changer – 40X. This scope offers an 8X zoom factor, a 40 percent wider field of view, and an exceptionally large eye box. Kahles builds the K540i on a 36mm main tube with a 56mm objective, and it has an incredible 29 MILs of elevation adjustment. The K540i also has a special DLR elevation turret with EasyRead lettering and 100 clicks per rotation. The base model K540 DLR comes with either the SKMR+ or SKMR4+ first focal plane reticles, but they’ll also offer a version with an extremely precise elevation turret that has 160 clicks per rotation. It will be available with additional first focal plane reticles. Prices start at $4499.
