Turkey hunters across the country are already gearing up for the upcoming season—Luke Combs included. The country singer is so passionate about bagging gobblers, in fact, that he partnered with Columbia PHG to release a limited-edition line of turkey hunting gear. The new Luke Combs PHG Collection features special-edition apparel in Luke's favorite turkey camo: Mossy Oak Greenleaf. It consists of eight pieces, including a turkey vest, hoodie, pants, and gloves.
We were lucky enough not only to get our hands on some of the gear (it's awesome—stay tuned for a full review!), but we also got to talk to Luke in an exclusive interview about the new drop. Below, he shares how he started out turkey hunting, what makes this collection so unique and so special to him, and why he thinks Mossy Oak Greenleaf is the ultimate turkey camo. Plus, scroll down for a sneak peek at the Columbia PHG line, and a few of our favorite pieces.

Field & Stream: When did you first start turkey hunting?
Luke Combs: I first started turkey hunting about a decade ago when I moved to Nashville and started writing with some guys who were really into it. I didn't grow up hunting, but was always interested in going. So I learned from my buddies who had the knowledge and were kind enough to share their spots with me.
What do you love most about turkey hunting?
The communication with the turkeys is definitely my favorite part. Maybe that's because I have made my living with vocalizations myself. But when you lay down a calling sequence and a gobbler hammers back at you, there's not many feelings like that in the world, let alone in hunting. Combine that with the chess match of working a bird and the sheer beauty and adrenaline of a longbeard strutting and drumming into your setup. What's not to love?
Why is the Mossy Oak Greenleaf camo your favorite for turkeys?
I think Mossy Oak Bottomland is the most iconic camouflage pattern ever created, and Greenleaf was Mossy Oak's first seasonal pattern tailored specifically to spring turkey hunting. A wild turkey's vision is three times better than ours, so concealment is key when you're trying to stay hidden, especially during close encounters. In my opinion, Greenleaf is the perfect pattern to help you blend into your surroundings and feel confident that you won't be spotted during the most intense moments in the woods.
Talk to us about the Columbia turkey vest specifically. What sets this one apart from others out there?
What I really like most about it is the lightweight, ergonomic design. Columbia has made a name in practical clothing for all weather conditions, and this vest is no different. And thankfully, we didn't have to sacrifice storage space and pockets for gear. When you are covering a lot of ground and the weather starts warming up mid-morning, being comfortable is so important to help you stay those extra few hours that can often be the most productive in the spring.

How did you test this collection to make sure it's the best it can be?
We were able to send out prototypes a couple years ago to a lot of my friends in the hunting industry to provide feedback on the design and usability. So we had experienced hunters in every corner of the U.S. putting this gear to the test in various climates to create something that we are all really proud of.
What's your goal this turkey season? Any fun hunts coming up?
Oh man, a bunch! I have a few trips planned; one to Texas with my good friend Steve Rinella from Meateater, and I plan to go back to Alabama with the Haas family from Mossy Oak where I had some success last year. I will definitely spend a lot of time on my home farm in Tennessee and a few spots in Kansas as well. We have a pretty light year of touring, which will allow me to get out a bit more than usual. So I am really stoked to see some new places and share camp with friends I don't get to see as often as I would like.
