Watching a red stag get loaded onto a plane is one of those moments you don’t see every day and even when you do, it’s hard to believe. All credit due to @talliscotterill_ for his hunting trip return-flight receipt.

A Tennessee angler is celebrating today after catching what should soon be confirmed as the state’s biggest-ever largemouth bass. Darren Nunley caught the 15-plus pound lunker on Nickajack Lake on Saturday, February 28 while fishing with guide and long-time friend @hensleypowell
Nunley was fishing a chatterbait through hydrilla grass at about 8:30 a.m. when the bass hit, Hensley tells F&S. “I caught an 8-pounder on the same hydrilla flat the day before,” the guide and former professional angler recalls. “The bigger fish are starting to move into these flats in preparation for the spawn, so I knew Darren had a good chance at a nice fish.”
Nunley, a resident of Whitwell, Tennessee, says he’s been fishing Nickajack his whole life.

🚨 TENNESSEE MONSTER ALERT 🚨
Congrats are in order!!
Darren Nunley just might’ve cracked the state. Nickajack Lake produced a 15.75-pound, 29.5-inch largemouth Saturday … weighed on certified scales at Nunley’s local Save-A-Lot like a Thanksgiving turkey.
The catch is now in the hands of Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, under official review. If it clears? New Tennessee state record. Full stop.
That’s a once-in-a-generation bite. Who’s double-checking their drag settings right now?

For every dad who’s ever skipped a rock across a lake, here’s the new benchmark.
The World Stone Skimming Championship has been going down since 1983 on the tiny island of Easdale off Scotland’s west coast. They throw natural slate from a flooded seaside quarry — smooth water, tight lanes, no excuses. Three throws. Most skips win. Some of these lunatics are cracking 30+ bounces like it’s nothing.
Men’s, women’s, juniors — everybody steps up to the same platform. It started as a local get-together and turned into a full-blown international showdown. Coastal wind, cold water, bragging rights that last a lifetime.
Proof that the most elite sport on earth might just be something you learned at age eight.

If Bob Ross was a cedar man, and trees were feathers.
Meet Joey Jobes: he grew up in Havre de Grace, Maryland — the youngest son of Capt. Harry R. Jobes, a legendary waterman and decoy carver — and started whittling and painting decoys in his dad’s shop as a kid. He struck out on his own in 1976, splitting his time between fishing, crabbing, and turning blocks of wood into birds with insane detail and bold color.
This is generations of Chesapeake Bay tradition, every feather stoke’s a story you can almost hear. 🎨🦆🪵
Here’s his email if you want to reach out: [email protected]

In true Pro-Am form: every celeb gets paired with an Elite Series or Opens hammer. One boat. One cooler. All ruckus. There’s prizes and gear on the line but candidly — we’re readying for blown hooksets, panic net jobs, hot mics, and somebody boat-flipping a kicker like it’s the last cast of their life. Weigh-in might need popcorn.🍿

In the late ’90s, photographer David J. Sams spent a week on the subarctic muskeg with guide and conservationist Sam Hunter, keeping pace and staying out of the way. What came back ran as a Field & Stream story: canvas tents, DIY decoys, tundra sourced blinds, stubborn geese, missed chances, and the ones that finally folded.
Sam Hunter was up first and down last. By ten, he was hunting, fishing, and trapping to put food on the table, and that upbringing showed in the small things—how he read the sky, where he set cover, when he waited, when he moved. A week in camp meant slipping into his rhythm & realizing that’s what separates doing it from knowing it.
