He’s especially interested in writing long-form stories and essays about pressing conservation and social justice issues, as well as outdoor adventures. His creative writing focuses on interrogating aspects of masculinity in sport and the outdoors. Marshall’s work has been named “Notable” in the Best American Essay series. Marshall currently identifies complex issues, such as the impact of drought on wildlife, for in-depth editorial coverage. He’s a student of many outdoor pursuits—from rock climbing to duck hunting.
